Recipe - Moong dal and Masoor dal
Green gram and red lentil soup
Summary:
Plain dals can be made with different types of lentils. This particular soup has a distinct flavor to it. I like the flavor of this soup better than just the simple moong dal or just masoor dal.Ingredients:
- Moong dal (green gram with or without skin)- 1/2 cup
- Masoor dal (red lentil) - 1/2 cup
- Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 3/4 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 3cups (to cook)
Process:
Wash moong dal and masoor dal, add 3 cups of water, salt, coriander powder, turmeric powder, paprika and butter. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles.
Let the pressure release and add one cup of hot water to bring it to the desired consistency. Serve hot as a soup or add seasoning to the soup with cumin seeds and onions and serve it with rice or roti.
